By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Philip McKevitt pleaded not guilty to possessing explosive substances at the Special Criminal Court, reported on 13 January 2012. The charge concerned an advertising trailer and two modified gas cylinders found at his home in Aghaboys, Mount Pleasant, Dundalk, Co Louth, on 22 May 2010. Prosecuting evidence described glucose and modified electrical wire as materials associated with an explosive device.

A detective told the court that no explosives were found and that the trailer and cylinders could not cause an explosion by themselves. The trial was continuing before Mr Justice Paul Butler. No verdict or later outcome for McKevitt is supported by the available report.
