Paul Gregory can be identified after court order lifted

By Gráinne Nolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Paul Gregory can now be identified after the deadline to appeal a court order lifting reporting restrictions passed without an appeal. The order had been stayed for 28 days pending an application to the Court of Appeal.

Gregory pleaded guilty in 2015 to 205 counts of rape and sexual assault of his wife’s two sons. In November 2020, Mr Justice Tony Hunt lifted reporting restrictions, saying it was in the public interest and that the victims wished to be identified. He had imposed a 21-year prison term in 2016, with the final five years suspended.
