Paul Barry’s bullying complaints against Garda officers rejected

By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Former Garda sergeant Paul Barry’s bullying complaints against senior officers were rejected by the Disclosures Tribunal, reported on 25 March 2023. The tribunal found no officer named in his complaints and protected disclosures had targeted him.

The tribunal said it was understandable that Barry sometimes believed the worst in a poor working atmosphere, but it did not uphold his complaints. It did not investigate his separate allegation that Superintendent Michael Comyns unlawfully interfered with a criminal investigation into a reported sexual assault; that matter was outside its remit.
