Patrick McCann jailed for sexual conduct towards teen

Patrick McCann was sentenced to nine months in prison at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 12 January 2024 for intentionally engaging in offensive conduct of a sexual nature.

The offence happened at an Applegreen petrol station on Stillorgan Road, Co Dublin, where McCann made sexual remarks to a 15-year-old boy waiting for a lift.

Judge Pauline Codd placed the offence in the mid-range and said McCann’s previous convictions, including 11 sexual offences, aggravated it. She also cited his early guilty plea and personal circumstances as mitigating factors.

The sentence was backdated to when McCann entered custody in the case. Gardaí identified him using petrol station CCTV after the boy’s mother contacted them.
