Patrick Fedigan's damages claim over alleged Larium-related health problems was adjourned in the High Court on 15 March 2019. The former soldier claims he suffered anxiety, panic, insomnia, vertigo, memory problems and loss of balance after taking the anti-malaria drug during Defence Forces deployments in Africa. The State defendants deny the claims.
The proceedings were adjourned shortly after opening before Mr Justice Bernard Barton to allow Mr Fedigan's lawyers to consider documents recently discovered by the defendants. The case was expected to last up to ten weeks. The judge said he would have to hear it in blocks because of other judicial commitments. The report said the case would resume on Tuesday the following week.
