This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Noah Musueni was convicted of murdering Tristan Sherry at the Special Criminal Court on 17 February 2025. The killing took place at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown on 24 December 2023.

Musueni pleaded not guilty. Michael Andrecut and David Amah also pleaded not guilty to murder and were convicted alongside him.

The trial heard that Sherry and a second gunman entered the restaurant, where Jason Hennessy Snr and others had gathered. Sherry shot and fatally wounded Hennessy before he was dragged to the ground and beaten to death.

The murder accused argued that Sherry’s actions caused a sudden and total loss of self-control and that they should be convicted of manslaughter. The court accepted that the murder of Jason Hennessy Snr was an “extremely provocative” act, but rejected the defence argument. It found that the accused had opportunities to consider their actions and that their demeanour showed they were not overcome by the circumstances.

The court found that Musueni stamped on and stabbed Sherry, then threw a chair that struck him. It concluded that Musueni’s actions showed he was in control. Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo ordered that Musueni, who had been on bail, be taken into custody.

Brandon Hennessy, Jonas Kabangu and Diarmuid O’Brien pleaded not guilty to violent disorder arising from the same incident. They were convicted after the court rejected their arguments that they had acted in self-defence.

The trial was heard by Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo, Judge Elma Sheahan and Judge James Faughnan. The court ordered reports for the accused and planned to mention the case on 10 March 2025, with a view to a sentencing hearing on 7 April 2025.
