Niall McGlynn received a partly suspended two-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 16 March 2016, for assaults on a bouncer and garda. The court suspended the final six months and credited him with three months already spent in custody. McGlynn had pleaded guilty to two assault charges, assault causing harm and robbery. The assaults occurred in Dublin city centre and Pearse Street Garda station, while the robbery took place at a Paddy Power in Swords.

The court was told McGlynn punched a bouncer after being refused entry to the Czech Inn in Temple Bar, then punched Garda Brian Cleary at the station. He also took cash during a bookmakers robbery before staff held him until gardaí arrived. His defence said he had gambling and substance abuse problems and had stayed out of trouble since the robbery.
