The Court of Appeal ruled Naila Zaffer’s wholly suspended two-and-a-half-year sentence for theft and false instruments unduly lenient on 28 October 2016.
The decision followed a Director of Public Prosecutions appeal concerning ten guilty pleas, including theft, attempted theft and false-instrument offences. The court said the offending involved more than €200,000 and was premeditated and prolonged. It allowed the appeal and said it would consider a replacement sentence.
