Michael Lynn was granted legal aid for his appeal against his conviction and sentence for stealing over €18 million from financial institutions at the Court of Appeal on 28 June 2024.
The court granted aid on the same terms as at trial after Lynn completed a statement of means saying he had no means. The judge said the State could return to court if new information made legal aid inappropriate.
Lynn intends to appeal both his conviction and sentence. He is serving a five-and-a-half-year sentence after a jury found him guilty of ten of 21 theft counts.
