Michael Igbosono’s challenge to the refusal to revoke his deportation order was dismissed by the High Court on 4 October 2017, where Mr Justice Richard Humphreys delivered judgment.
Igbosono had been convicted of sexual assault on 30 January 2009 and received two years in custody, with one year suspended. The Court of Criminal Appeal later increased that sentence to five years, with two years suspended, and he remained in custody until April 2015.
The High Court held that the Minister had complied with the relevant requirements and was entitled to find that deporting a non-national convicted of a serious criminal offence was not disproportionate. The proceedings were reported on 4 October 2017.
