Mary Walsh ordered to keep €864,000 frozen in lotto dispute

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Mary Walsh had freezing orders continued by the Court of Appeal on 21 March 2017 in her dispute over a €3.3 million lottery win. The orders prevent her reducing assets below €864,000 while her appeal against a High Court ruling remains pending.

The High Court had ordered Walsh to pay her stepson David Walsh one sixth of the 2011 jackpot and his legal costs. The appeal court granted an unconditional stay on that judgment, reduced the protected asset level from €929,000 and paused further steps concerning her home and life insurance policies.
