This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Mary McDonnell was given immunity after a withholding information charge was withdrawn in the Special Criminal Court, reported on 11 June 2018. The court heard she had earlier been arrested on suspicion of murdering Gareth Hutch, but was ultimately charged with withholding information.

The court heard that Ms McDonnell and her family were being protected and managed locally after safety concerns, with the family relocated in October 2016. The trial concerned the murder of Mr Hutch, for which Thomas Fox, Regina Keogh and Jonathan Keogh had pleaded not guilty.
