This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Mark Tims admitted manslaughter but denied murder at the Central Criminal Court, in a report dated 14 January 2020.

The prosecution said Anthony Tims died after an assault at their home in Rowlagh Green, Clondalkin, in July 2018.

The court heard that Mark Tims punched and kicked his father during an argument, before leaving the house.

A post-mortem found head trauma and fractured ribs, while severe heart disease complicated the medical findings.

The prosecution said the injuries were a substantial cause of death and raised Mark Tims’s intention as the trial issue.

The trial continued before Mr Justice Tony Hunt and a jury, according to the report.
