Marek Laska avoids conviction for cannabis possession

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Marek Laska avoided a conviction for unlawful possession of cannabis for sale or supply and a digital weighing scales after Judge Dempsey applied the Probation Act; the proceedings were reported on 28 June 2014.

Laska had previously pleaded guilty to the charges, which related to cannabis and scales found at a house on Main Street in Rush on 6 October 2011. He was ordered to attend Hope and assist other drug users. Garda Gerrit Durnin said Laska co-operated and took responsibility, while his defence said the scales and scoop were used to divide drugs fairly between three friends who had contributed money.
