Nko Mpase received a fully suspended three-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for facilitating the entry into the State of another person at Dublin Airport on May 16, 2020. Ms Justice Patricia Ryan set a five-year headline sentence before reducing it to three years and suspending it in full on strict conditions. The proceedings were reported on July 25, 2025.
Mpase pleaded guilty. The judge took account of her early guilty plea and the fact that she was not financially gaining from the offending. At an earlier hearing, Garda Sean McGlynn said evidence included WhatsApp communications, a ticket Mpase bought for the other woman and CCTV showing them together; under cross-examination, he agreed there was no evidence of financial gain and that Mpase had never done anything of this nature before. The defence said she was not in it for profit but should not have done it.
