Mr Justice Kevin Cross was told in the High Court on 9 June 2016 that a man’s sexual abuse damages action against the Garda Commissioner and State had settled.
The claim concerned alleged abuse by the late Garda Jack Dunne when the man was aged 12, including at Pearse Street station in Dublin. The settlement included an acknowledgement that he had suffered damage, but its financial and other terms were not disclosed. The defendants had denied negligence, breach of duty and vicarious liability, and opposed the action on limitation grounds.
