Luke Dunne was sentenced to five and a half years, with the final 12 months suspended, at Dublin Circuit Court, reported on 14 November 2014, after pleading guilty to assault causing serious harm. The attack happened at Fortlawn Park, Blanchardstown, on 9 June 2012.
The court heard that Joseph Nolan suffered a life-threatening skull fracture and brain clot during the unprovoked attack. Judge Mary Ellen Ring said Dunne received greater than normal credit for admitting his involvement and helping secure a prosecution.
