Linda Finnegan received a one-year-and-nine-month sentence, suspended in full, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 8 November 2023.

She admitted defrauding the Waldorf Barbers in Dublin and fraudulently inducing Bank of Ireland to transfer €29,000 to her. The total misappropriated sum was €35,601.

Judge Orla Crowe set a headline term of two and a half years before reducing it to one year and nine months, suspended in full, after Finnegan’s guilty plea and other mitigating circumstances.

The judge found that Finnegan’s actions caused the company to go into liquidation, while acknowledging that she believed she was entitled to withdraw the money. Her father, Liam Finnegan, had died in February 2019; the fraud followed a falling-out between them.
