Leonie Reynolds warned litigants over bad legal advice

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Ms Justice Leonie Reynolds warned litigants at the High Court on 11 April 2019 about taking bad legal advice from people without legal qualifications. The warning came as she granted a receiver possession of a commercial property at Six Cross Roads, Co Waterford.

The judge said unrepresented parties who had been badly advised would ultimately face the substantial legal costs of failed applications. She also raised concerns about legal submissions and a letter sent by Eamon O’Neill, who apologised to the court.

The possession order was stayed for one month to allow the occupants time to find premises, and the matter was adjourned to the following month.
