Lee O'Brien was jailed for three years and nine months for robbery and attempted robbery at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 4 March 2022. He had pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The convictions related to a failed attempt to take money from a Centra on Drimnagh Road and a robbery at a Spar at Walkinstown Roundabout, both in Crumlin, on 23 April 2018. Judge Martin Nolan noted there was no actual violence, although both offences involved a threat of violence, and gave credit for O'Brien's co-operation and wish to rehabilitate. Defence counsel said O'Brien was on methadone in custody and sought a sentence allowing residential treatment after release.
The proceedings were reported on 4 March 2022.
