Kerry Coursing Club dispute over hare coursing lockout

By Donal Gilhooly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The Kerry Coursing Club sought High Court orders over access to Ballybeggan Park, saying it had been locked out of the grounds used for hare coursing.

The club claimed Ballybeggan Park Company Limited had put new locks on the gates on 18 June 2022. It also alleged the company planned to sell the grounds for €5 million without accommodating the club’s activities; the company’s response is not included in this report.

The matter was mentioned before Mr Justice Brian O’Moore on 20 July 2022. He granted the club permission to serve short notice of its injunction proceedings, which were due to return to court later that month.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
