Julie McMahon pleads guilty to handling stolen clothing

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Julie McMahon pleaded guilty to possessing stolen clothing at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 28 April 2021. The clothing, valued at between €1,142 and €2,000, was found at her Dublin home after adverts offered items online at about half their market value. Gardaí said some items still had security tags and shop managers confirmed they had been stolen. Judge Elma Sheahan remanded McMahon on continuing bail and adjourned the case to 7 May so a pending District Court offence could be dealt with.

The court was told McMahon had two previous convictions, including one for theft. Her defence said she had been under severe financial pressure, had written a letter of apology and had asked the court to view the conduct as a period she would not repeat.
