Josh Boylan and Keith Boylan had bench warrants issued over charges including false imprisonment in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 18 June 2020.
On 18 June, prosecuting counsel Garnet Orange SC sought the warrants, saying the men were believed to be outside the jurisdiction and the warrants were needed to begin extradition proceedings. Judge Martin Nolan said warrants should be issued.
On a previous court date, Mr Orange said there were contextual factors suggesting a threat to the men could be taken seriously. Lily Buckley BL, defending Josh Boylan, said it was accepted in evidence that there was a genuine threat to his life. She said he had instructed that he would attend his trial and was absent because his life was at risk. Counsel for Keith Boylan said he had effectively gone into hiding because of a threat to his life.
The charges relate to an incident in Moneymore, Drogheda, on 11 November 2018.
