James Slattery was jailed for five years for possessing cannabis for sale or supply at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 25 March 2015. The offence occurred at North West Business Park, Blanchardstown, where Gardaí arrested him while cannabis was transferred to his car. The court heard that 78kg had been brought from the Netherlands, with about one-third placed in Slattery’s car. He pleaded guilty, and the judge took account of his charity work before imposing the sentence.

Slattery admitted his role during interview and said he had been paid €1,000. His defence said he worked as a freelance disc jockey, was not drug-dependent and intended to deliver the drugs to another person.
