James Leddy's sexual assault sentencing delayed

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

James Leddy's sentencing for three indecent assaults was adjourned at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 15 July 2019. The offences involved a 13-year-old boy at a house in Artane between May and September 1981.

Leddy had denied the charges but was convicted on all three counts by majority verdict. The judge delayed sentencing until October for a new probation report after conflicting accounts about whether Leddy accepted responsibility for the offences.

His defence said he accepted the jury's verdict, while an earlier probation report recorded that he denied his guilt.
