This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

An unnamed man was ruled unfit to stand trial for alleged child sexual assault at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 16 July 2019.

The court heard that, in consultations with a forensic psychiatrist, the man denied any wrongdoing and said any sexual activity was consensual.

A forensic psychiatrist said his social and intellectual abilities were significantly impaired, leaving him unable to follow proceedings or make a proper defence.

Judge Cormac Quinn found him unfit because of a mental disorder and adjourned the case for review on 16 July the following year.
