Ian Kidney was jailed for seven years for possessing more than €3 million of cannabis and cocaine at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The two guilty pleas concerned possession of drugs for sale or supply on 3 April 2024, including cannabis transported in Dublin and drugs held in a Ballymount storage unit.

The court heard that painkiller overuse after a workplace accident led to addiction and debt; the report said Kidney had no previous involvement in crime.
