Haughton and Young Ltd was placed in provisional liquidation by the High Court on 17 February 2020, after Ms Justice Leonie Reynolds appointed Nicholas O’Dwyer to the role. The Dublin mechanical engineering subcontractor was based in Ballycoolin and employed more than 160 people.
The court was told the company had become insolvent after losses increased from 2018, with competition and unpaid monies among the factors cited. Its shareholders had supported the appointment after efforts to secure fresh investment and address cash-flow problems failed.
The provisional liquidator was granted certain powers to preserve the company’s assets, and the matter was adjourned to early March.
