Gerardine Scanlan loses appeal over confidential data defence
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Gerardine Scanlan lost her appeal in the Court of Appeal on 31 October 2019 over Grant Thornton’s civil claim concerning confidential data. Ms Justice Baker dismissed her appeal against the refusal to join Danske Bank and the Data Protection Commissioner. She also dismissed the appeal against orders striking out part of the defence and most of the counterclaim, insofar as those orders were encompassed by the general grounds of appeal. The court affirmed the High Court’s orders, finding no substantiated basis for setting them aside on grounds of objective bias and no case for joining either proposed party.
