By Fionn Kelly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Gavin Walsh pleaded guilty to possessing a stolen Ford Focus at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 2 November 2015. The vehicle had been taken from a tow truck in Santry, Dublin, and Walsh was caught after undercover gardaí arranged a sting following its advertisement for sale on Done Deal. The car had cloned plates and discs and was returned to its owners. Walsh was also linked to an Audi A4 bought with a fake bank draft and advertised similarly. He had six previous convictions for minor road traffic and public order offences.

Judge Martin Nolan said the offence had been planned and that Walsh possessed the car intending to make a profit. Sentencing was adjourned until the end of the following month so that a probation report could be prepared.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
