Galway man sentenced to one year in prison for child abuse material

Alan Keating, 48, of Ranelagh Village, Dublin, and formerly of Co Galway, was sentenced to one year in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material. He pleaded guilty to possession of the material. The proceedings were reported on December 5, 2025.

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that 330 images and 719 videos were found on Keating’s laptop, depicting children aged between one and 12 in sexual acts. A small number of images showed extreme acts, including children bound with ropes or confined in cages. Keating had no previous convictions and had not come to garda attention since.
