Gail O’Rorke was acquitted of assisted suicide charges at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 29 April 2015. Judge Patrick McCartan directed acquittals on charges alleging she ordered barbiturates and helped procure Bernadette Forde’s suicide through funeral arrangements. The jury also acquitted her of arranging travel to Switzerland to visit the Dignitas clinic. The court heard that Gardaí had contacted her after a travel agent raised concerns about the proposed trip. Ms Forde later died after taking an overdose of pentobarbital, according to the report.
