Franklin Olukoya was sentenced to eight months in prison at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 10 March 2023 for careless driving causing serious harm and driving without insurance. Judge Martin Nolan backdated the sentence to November and disqualified him from driving for four years.

Olukoya pleaded guilty to both charges. The proceedings were reported on 14 March 2023. The offence happened at Portmarnock, north Dublin, on 24 June 2019, after he lost control of the car and his passenger suffered serious injuries.

The report said the charge had been reduced from dangerous driving causing serious harm to careless driving causing serious harm. Olukoya said he had epilepsy and may have suffered a fit, while his defence provided reports recording seizures since he was three and attention deficit disorder.
