Francis Lanigan is to be extradited over an alleged murder after the High Court lifted a stay on his surrender on 21 January 2019.

Lanigan is wanted in Northern Ireland on charges of murder and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, relating to John Knocker’s death in Dungannon, County Tyrone, in 1998.

The High Court had ordered his surrender in 2015, and that decision was upheld on appeal.

The Supreme Court had refused to hear a further appeal, bringing the latest stage of his lengthy legal challenge to an end.
