Willie McAteer, John Bowe, Peter Fitzpatrick and Denis Casey are on trial for conspiracy to mislead investors at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 23 February 2016.

The prosecution alleges interbank transactions made Anglo Irish Bank appear €7.2 billion more valuable, with the defendants having pleaded not guilty.

Witness Ciaran McArdle said Anglo could not rely on Bank of Ireland, AIB or international banks for balance-sheet support during the financial crisis.

The trial continues before Judge Martin Nolan and a jury.
