Five men jailed for branding attack on Barry Moore

By Fionn Kelly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Devon Hennessy was sentenced to three years in prison, while Jason Hennessy Jr received eight and a half years, Brandon Hennessy six years, Dean Fitzsimons eight and a half years, and Kenneth Fitzsimons eight years at the Special Criminal Court. Brandon Hennessy’s six-year term is consecutive to a sentence he is already serving, which ends on 16 February 2028.

The five men had pleaded guilty to offences arising from an attack on Barry Moore at a house in Blanchardstown on 12 February 2025. Four pleaded guilty to assault causing harm; Devon Hennessy pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and assisting a criminal organisation to inflict serious harm. The court heard that Moore had refused to give evidence at trial because he was afraid.

The judge said Devon Hennessy was the only one of the five who tried to intervene on Moore’s behalf and had entered an early guilty plea. She said the other four pleaded guilty after the trial had begun and that the court could attach little weight to their expressions of remorse.
