This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Fiona McAleenan gave evidence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 28 March 2022, saying signatures on loan documents had been forged without her permission.

She said she had not authorised Elizabeth Doyle or Michael Lynn to sign her name on documents including family home protection papers and solicitor undertakings linked to mortgage applications.

McAleenan said a document on paper headed “Fiona McAleenan Solicitors” was an entire forgery, adding that no such firm existed. She also said she had never been a partner in Lynn’s firm and left the practice in September 2007.

Lynn was on trial, having pleaded not guilty to 21 theft counts involving around €27 million and seven financial institutions. The trial continued before Judge Martin Nolan and a jury.
