Fiona McAleenan told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court she had not acted for Michael Lynn in the Howth property transaction, as his theft trial continued, reported on 29 March 2022.

She said she had not signed a €3.85 million loan application for Glenlion, a €5.5 million property in Howth, and that her signature was forged on a letter to Bank of Scotland Ireland. The trial concerns Lynn’s alleged theft of around €27 million from seven financial institutions; he has pleaded not guilty to 21 theft counts.

McAleenan also denied sending an email to National Irish Bank that said she could act independently for Lynn, and denied speaking with a bank lawyer who later said he believed he had spoken with her. A legal executive had testified that she signed documents using McAleenan’s and Lynn’s signatures, on Lynn’s instruction; McAleenan said she had not given permission.

The trial was continuing before Judge Martin Nolan and a jury.
