Eve Doherty was found guilty of harassing State solicitor Elizabeth Howlin in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 2 August 2017. The harassment involved abusive letters and emails sent between September 2011 and March 2013.
Doherty had pleaded not guilty to harassment. She also denied making false statements on two dates in March 2012 claiming Howlin was perverting the course of justice. After a 15-day trial, the jury found her guilty of harassment but not guilty on both false-statement counts.
Judge Greally remanded Doherty on continuing bail until 27 October for sentence. The judge noted that bail conditions included no contact with any parties in the proceedings and said there should be no social-media postings concerning any person or matters relating to the proceedings.
