This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Eoin Michael Cahill received Ryanair’s apology over an alleged defamation claim at the High Court on 6 February 2024, when the airline said it had withdrawn his flying ban.

Ryanair said Cahill had been mistakenly identified as a passenger involved in an altercation with staff at Dublin Airport on 2 January 2024. Cahill said he did not travel on a Ryanair flight or attend the airport that day.

The airline offered to correct a message to Cahill’s employer, withdraw its allegations and pay €10,000 compensation, plus legal costs as may be agreed. The report records the offer.

The High Court awarded Cahill the legal costs of the injunction proceedings, after the judge found Ryanair had known of his complaint for some time before completing its investigation.
