Edward Wall and Patrick Wall retain four-year burglary terms

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Edward Wall and Patrick Wall retained four-year sentences for burglary, with the final year suspended, after the Court of Appeal dismissed the DPP’s review on 4 November 2016. Three-year terms for attempted burglary were ordered to run concurrently.

They had pleaded guilty to burglary in Drogheda, Co Louth, and attempted burglary at Woodgrange, Co Meath, arising from events on 31 October 2014.

The court said the sentences were lenient but had not been shown to involve the clear divergence from the norm required for an undue-leniency finding.
