Derek Coady pleaded guilty to endangerment at the Central Criminal Court on 28 March 2023. The charge concerned conduct at Bluebell Avenue, Dublin 12, between 17 and 18 May 2020 that created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to Alan Hall.
Coady had previously faced murder and arson charges relating to Hall’s death. The plea was entered on the basis that the sentence hearing would hear the full facts and Coady’s role; the State said it would enter a nolle prosequi on the other counts.
Justice Mary Ellen Ring remanded Coady in custody for sentence on 24 July 2023 and directed that a probation report, urinalysis and victim impact statements be prepared.
