Denis Nolan was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment for rape and sexual assault at the Court of Appeal, reported on 8 June 2023.

The appeal court quashed the original sentence and ordered the six-year term to run consecutively to the sentence Nolan was already serving, with no part suspended. It increased the additional term from 18 months after the Director of Public Prosecutions appealed the sentence imposed for abuse of a third boy in Co Wicklow.
