Decobake Limited gets provisional liquidator over unpaid rates

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court appointed a provisional liquidator to Decobake Limited over unpaid commercial rates. The proceedings were reported on 30 June 2017. Dublin City Council sought an order winding up the company over a rates bill of about €102,000 and said the appointment would protect creditors’ assets.

Justice Paul Gilligan appointed the provisional liquidator, granting powers to take control of the company’s assets, books and records and investigate its bank accounts. The company operated a Dublin store and a warehouse in Clane, Co Kildare.

The court was told Decobake was in a position to make payments, but the council said the offer was unacceptable. The judge declined to stay or set aside the appointment. He said the parties or liquidator could seek an arrangement over the debt, and the company could appeal to the Court of Appeal if it wished to vary the order.
