This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Declan Hannon’s name ban was lifted by the Court of Appeal on 23 November 2020 after his child rape conviction.

Hannon was convicted of four rapes and two indecent assaults and jailed for seven years after a Central Criminal Court trial in March 2019.

The Court of Appeal ruled that an earlier order preventing publication of his identity was unnecessary, while the woman’s identity remains protected by law.

The report said Hannon, of Ramsgate Village, Gorey, County Wexford, had denied the charges before his conviction.
