This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Dean Carr was jailed for two years by Judge Martin Nolan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for meeting a child under 17 to engage in a sex act and sending sexually explicit material on Instagram. He also entered an early guilty plea.

The report said Carr met the then 14-year-old girl at a Dublin hotel on January 17th, 2022, after contact on Instagram. He paid for her train ticket and the hotel room; Gardaí later identified him through CCTV and seized related items.

The court heard that Carr had no previous convictions and did not want the girl to give evidence or attend court. His defence accepted his wrongdoing and remorse, while the report said he was assessed as a high re-offending risk that could reduce with suitable therapy.
