This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Craig Dempsey was sentenced for robbing two shops at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 2 July 2018, receiving six years suspended in full for three years. The robberies took place at Apache Pizza in Tallaght on 6 September 2015 and a Spar store in Ballycullen on 20 July 2015.

Dempsey had pleaded guilty to both robberies, including producing a broken bottle during the Spar offence. The court heard that €2,535 was taken from the pizzeria during the raid involving an accomplice carrying an electric chainsaw.

Judge Melanie Greally considered that Dempsey’s cocaine use and antisocial peer group, identified as principal risk factors, appeared to have been addressed, and noted that he had not re-offended.
