Cousins to have suitability for community service assessed in passport fraud case

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has directed that Simon O’Donnell and his cousin Winnie O’Donnell be assessed for their suitability to carry out community service. The judge remanded them on continuing bail and adjourned finalisation of the case to July.

Simon pleaded guilty to providing false information in a passport application made in 2019, while Winnie pleaded guilty to providing false or misleading information to the Civil Registration Service in connection with registering a fictitious birth. The passport application was stopped by biometric safeguards, and Simon never received the passport. The court heard that no social welfare was obtained under the second identity.
