The Circuit Criminal Court has ordered that Ruadhan Tracey’s driving licence be restored from 12 May 2027. Judge Orla Crowe said restoration was appropriate, noting the loss caused by his careless driving and that he had made efforts to rehabilitate since 2018.

Tracey, 44, had been disqualified for 20 years after pleading guilty to careless driving causing the death of 14-year-old Conor Hickey in a hit-and-run in Cabra on 2 December 2011. He also admitted failing to remain at the scene. The judge said the disqualification was an ancillary order and that Tracey had served 20 months for the offence, alongside a sentence for an unrelated matter.
