Water outage in Meath town leaves households without supply

An outage at Dunshaughlin's water treatment plant in Meath has affected water services across the town.
Uisce Éireann said its crews have been working overnight and through Thursday morning to restore normal supply, focusing on getting the treatment plant back into full production and refilling the town’s water tower to acceptable levels.
Enda Cully of Uisce Éireann apologised for the inconvenience caused to local residents.
“We acknowledge the impact that a planned outage has on our customers, and we assure affected customers that our crews will work as quickly as possible to complete the repairs and restore normal supply.”
It typically takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all households. However, customers on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience longer delays.
The utility body also confirmed that flushing crews will be in the area over the coming week as part of a planned programme to maintain water quality across the network.
